Abscisic acid (ABA) is an isoprenoid plant hormone that plays an important role in the regulation of transpiration, seed germination, embryogenesis and physiological adaptation to various environmental stresses, including water deficiency, osmotic stress, and low temperature.
The group is developing a simple method for extracting and purifying phytohormones (+)-abscisic acid and its metabolites such as PA, DPA, neoPA, ABAGE, 7´OHABA and 9´OHABA for analysis by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS). The identification and quantification of abscisic acid and its metabolites in plant tissue is necessary for physiological studies of their metabolism and mode of action.
