Content

Scope, emergence and development of molecular biotechnology. Microbial diversity and microorganisms with uses in biotechnology. Recombinant DNA technology, principles of gene expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Large-scale production of proteins from recombinant microorganisms. Production of protein and nucleic acids therapeutics, recombinant vaccines. Synthesis of enzymes, small biological molecules, antibiotics and biopolymers by recombinant microorganisms. Microbial insecticides (Bacillus thuringiensis toxin, baculoviruses). Bioremediation and biomass utilization. |
